Sad story of a man who, faced with imminent death from AIDS, decides to throw a party for all of his family and friends and go out with a bang. Things get complicated when his ex-lover, who everybody still resents because he dumped him as soon as he tested positive, shows up. The main character's sense of humor about his predicament and his refusal to wallow in self-pity is applauded by some of his guests and shocks others. Very well-written and the characters act very believably. Gene makes a short appearance in a flashback sequence as one of their friends who has already succumbed to the disease.
