Hollywood Shuffle (1987)

Hilarious parody that pokes fun at Hollywood and the way black actors have been stereotyped. The story is told through the eyes of a struggling young actor, who daydreams about both the best and the worst that might happen to him. Gene is a director he's working with in real life, who shows up in a variety of different roles in his daydreams (my favorite was Gene as Indiana Jones...too funny...and he looked great in the hat!). Gene has mentioned in chats that this was his favorite movie to make, and it's easy to see why. If you want to see him doing something very un-Operations-like...pick up a copy of this one!

Your best bet is doing a search for it on E-bay since it's no longer available new. This film won the 1988 Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
