They
show the 'previously on LFN segment' showing what took place in 501, with Nikita
asking why she was brought into Section, the mission in 501, the house
exploding at the end of 502.
Then
we're in Section. A pair of feet walk
down the metal stairs. We see a hand
holding a gun. Operations is talking to
a blonde wimpy-looking guy from Oversight.
Oversight
Guy: It’s true that Centre hasn’t named a replacement for George, but in
the meantime there’s an ad hoc committee.
Operations: I’m
well aware.
Oversight
Guy: And as part of that committee, I want to assure you that we have no intention
of letting any of the Sections relax their standards of performance.
Operations: Well,
as you know we’ve had major personnel changes.
Oversight
Guy: I’m not interested in excuses.
Operations: Those
aren’t excuses. Those are facts.
Oversight
Guy: So’s this – the Collective has made you look foolish lately, and on
more than one occasion. And the prelim from Morocco indicates that your
secondary objective wasn’t achieved.
Operations: We
were undermanned.
Oversight
Guy: (sniffs derisively) The team is due back in ten
minutes. I’ll debrief them personally.
Operative: We
have the prisoner.
Oversight
Guy: You failed to destroy the substation.
Operative: No
time. Not with the personnel available.
Oversight
Guy: When the leader makes excuses, the subordinates inevitably follow
suit. And that’s exactly what I’m going to say in my report.
As
the operatives lead the bad guy away, he spins and knocks one in the face with
his handcuffs. He gets ahold of the gun
and starts shooting everybody. Ops ducks behind part of the wall and is
overlooked. He heads down the hallway
and discovers the Oversight Weasel, trying to hide.
Oversight
Guy: Please! I’m an important man. We can work something out.
Other
operatives arrive and pull their guns, holding them on the bad guy. He grabs
Mr. Oversight in a headlock.
Bad
Guy: Guns down! Now!
Oversight
Guy: Do what he says! I’m from
Oversight. If anything happens to me, you’ll be sorry! All of you!
The
other operatives capitulate and drop their weapons.
Bad
Guy: Hands where I can see them!
Operations
is standing above on a catwalk, unseen by the rest. He trains his gun on the
neck of the bad guy and then reconsiders, moving it to the right. He shoots
them both in a single shot. The other
operatives rush to the fallen bodies.
Operations:
Prisoner escaped, he walked into the line of fire. That’s the way I saw
it. Anybody disagree?
They
shake their heads no.
Operations:
Dispose of the body. (he turns and speaks to himself) He’s
right. The place is falling apart.
Scene One - Section One - Munitions
Walter
is working on something for Nikita. She has her hand to her head, looks like
she has a headache.
Walter:
I’m sorry, Sugar. I’ve tried every crowbar program I’ve got and nothing
comes up.
Nikita: Could
have been damaged in the explosion.
Walter:
You know, if Birkoff were still around here, he might be able to bring
something up, but I’ve drawn a blank.
Do you think it could have been some kind of message from your father?
Nikita: Maybe.
Or someone else.
Walter:
Michael? Look. The whole point
is, the house exploded and someone is trying to kill you!
Nikita: Could
have been a booby trap, not personal.
Walter:
Either way, you better cover that pretty rear end of yours, or it’s gonna get
blown off. (he notices she's out of it) Are you okay?
Nikita:
Yeah. Just a headache since that explosion.
Walter:
Just get out of here, forget everything and relax.
Nikita: Yeah,
I will.
Scene
Three - Section One - Systems
We're
looking at a visual of Earth, with a satellite rotating around it. We hear O'Brien's voice before we see him,
sitting at a table, working.
O'Brien: Realign
the satellites. Sequence for dark approach. Good. Debrief in half an
hour. (Operations walks up and O'Brien addresses him) We took out the
guidance system in Nicosia.
Operations: I
want it confirmed. The Collective’s been running circles around us
lately. Ever since you’ve been slotted in for Michael, in fact.
O'Brien: Are
you suggesting a connection?
Operations: Oversight
has been getting testy lately, and if they need a sacrificial lamb, it’ll be
you.
Operations
turns to leaves and then hesitates.
Operations:
O'Brien?
O'Brien
turns to look at him.
Operations:
Just thought you’d like to know.
Scene Four - Section One - Munitions
Walter
is messing with a minidisk that doesn't seem to want to eject from a
drive. In walks Jason.
Jason: I’m
gone a couple of months and already this place is falling apart.
Walter:
Jace! Whatcha doing back here!
Jason:
Slummin’.
Walter:
Slumming? Boy, it sure is good to see a familiar face. This place is
changing so fast that you’ve got to have a program to tell who the players are.
Jason:
Well, that’s why I’m here. Centre wants me to help with the transition
team.
Walter:
Is that right?
Jasmine
walks up, seems to be in a hurry.
Jasmine:
Walter, my panel’s baked. Can you take a look at it?
Walter: Sure can, beautiful. I’ll get after it
right away.
Jason:
Hey, darling. If you need someone to look under your hood, I’m your
man. I’m Jason, from Oversight.
Jasmine:
Jasmine. From "Not Interested".
Jason
groans with disappointment. Walter
grins.
Walter: I’ll have it done by this afternoon.
Jasmine:
Thanks, Walter.
Walter:
Okay, Jas.
She
leaves. Jason turns to Walter.
Jason:
Looks like I arrived just in time. That lady needs a man in her life.
Walter:
Just take it easy with that one. She’s a man killer.
Jason:
God, I hope so.
Scene Five - Section One - War Room
Everybody
arrives for a briefing - Nikita is having trouble seeing clearly.
Operations: Recent
intel shows increased mobilization in the Collective’s forces in the Montenegro
region.
O'Brien:
What’s the target?
Operations: There
are several potentials, but most likely a bio-strike against civilian soil.
He
brings up a face on the holoscreen.
Quinn:
Evan Hoffbauer.
Nikita:
Glass Curtain.
Quinn:
One of their few survivors. Recruited by the Collective about six weeks
ago. Specializes in bio-warfare.
O'Brien:
Do we have a position?
Operations:
We intercepted his schedule for the next 24 hours. If we can get him and break
him quickly enough, we can at least destroy some of the Collective’s
bio-weapons capability. Profiles are on your panels. That’s all.
Everybody
but Nikita gets up. After a moment she
puts her sunglasses on and rises slowly.
Scene Six - Section One - Munitions
O'Brien:
Hollow points, contact charges, anti-thermal pogs? I thought this was a simple grab and bag.
Walter:
Equipment issues are bulked up across the board.
O'Brien: Why,
because of the Collective?
Nikita
comes up and gets her weapons. She says
nothing.
Walter:
It’s been a while since I’ve seen Operations spooked. He doesn’t like
playing catch up. Sugar? There you are.
O'Brien:
What’s wrong with her?
Walter:
Nothing. She’s fine.
O'Brien:
(skeptically) Really.
Scene Seven - The Mission
We
are downtown - skyscrapers around.
O'Brien and Nikita walk into an elegant office building, she takes his
arm.
O'Brien: First
team on site.
Quinn:
(in Section, scanning the building) You’re clear to proceed.
O'Brien: Moving
to B mark.
Quinn:
Hoffbauer’s office is on twenty-three. I’m holding the elevator on the
second level. You have a 90-second window.
Nikita
and O'Brien go up in the elevator and proceed through glass doors into an
office. They come up on a locked door.
O'Brien:
I’m looking for a locksmith.
Quinn: You’ve
got the best.
O'Brien
opens the door, shoots two guys. He and
Nikita proceed to a locked set of doors. More shooting. Nikita can't shoot. She's weaving on her
feet, unsteady.
O'Brien: Shoot him!
The tranq!
Quinn:
Nikita, take the shot.
O'Brien:
Nikita!
Quinn:
Window closing.
Operations:
Why doesn’t she shoot with the tranq?
What’s going on?
Quinn:
O'Brien’s been hit.
Operations:
What about Hoffbauer?
Quinn:
Shot.
Operations:
Is he dead?
Nikita
is weaving on her feet, finally manages to shoot somebody in the shoulder.
Scene Eight - Section One - Van Access
Hoffbauer
is brought in on a stretcher.
Operations:
Get him to Medical, then Containment. (to Nikita and O'Brien) Mission
parameters were specific. He was to arrive unharmed.
O'Brien:
He’s still alive.
Operations:
Another couple of inches over and you wouldn’t have been so lucky. What
happened?
O'Brien:
It was the tranq. Jammed. We were lucky to bring him in at all.
Operations:
You checked the equipment when it was issued?
Nikita: Yes.
O'Brien:
Field stress. These things always seem to fail when you need 'em most.
Operations:
(skeptical) File the weapons report with Walter, then deliver your
debrief. That’s all.
Scene Nine - Section One - O'Brien's Office
Formerly
known as Michael's Office. Nikita is standing
just inside the door; O'Brien enters with his arm in a sling. He goes over and sits down at his desk.
Nikita:
How’s the shoulder?
O'Brien:
I got lucky. It’s gonna be okay.
Nikita:
Thank you for covering for me.
O'Brien:
What’s the problem? What’s wrong?
Nikita:
I don’t know.
He
gets up and walks over to her.
Nikita: I get headaches. I see white
flashes. I’m disoriented.
O'Brien:
How long has this been going on?
Nikita:
A couple of days.
O'Brien:
You should go to Medical.
Nikita:
I don’t want Operations to find out.
O'Brien:
You mean, you’re just gonna ride this out on your own?
Nikita:
I don’t have a choice. He would love any excuse to bring me down. I
know this isn’t fair to you.
O'Brien:
Don’t worry about me. I can take care of myself. You…you should
take care of yourself.
Nikita:
Thank you. (she leaves)
Scene Ten - Section One - The Perch
Operations:
Headaches? White flashes?
O'Brien:
That’s what she said.
Operations:
And the tranq gun?
O'Brien:
Tranq gun was fine.
Operations:
Why did you cover for her?
O'Brien:
To get her trust. She’s hiding something. Walter’s helping.
Maybe this way I can find out what it is.
Operations:
I'm glad to see you’re not falling into the same trap Michael did.
O'Brien:
(laughs) Not likely. If it wasn’t for Nikita, I’d still be living
on the outside fat, dumb and happy. I owe her big time.
Operations:
Keep me informed.
O'Brien
leaves, Ops hits his intercom.
Operations:
Send Goliak to Systems.
Scene Eleven - Section One - Systems
Nikita
walks into Systems. Jason is there.
Jason:
Hey, gorgeous.
Nikita:
I need your help.
Jason:
Sooner or later, they all need my help. That’s why I’m called the Love Doctor.
Just tell me exactly where-
Nikita:
-I need this decrypted.
Jason:
Off book?
Nikita:
Way off.
Jason:
What’s in it for me?
Nikita:
Absolutely nothing. Your brother was a good man. I’m hoping you are too.
Jason:
I only met my brother once. In the short time we had together, he spent
half the time talking about you. I’ll do what I can.
She
hands him the disk
Scene Twelve - Section One - Comm
Operations
walks into Comm and goes to Quinn.
Operations:
Hoffbauer broke. Here’s the intel file.
Start verification. Where’s Goliak? Goliak! I have a job for you. O'Brien’s keeping an eye on
Nikita. I want you to keep an eye on him. Make sure he’s doing what
he’s supposed to do. He’s good, so stay dark until you have something to
report.
Goliak
leaves to do as he has just been told. Operations goes back to where
Quinn is still seated. She looks up at him, smiling.
Quinn:
So… why don’t you trust O'Brien?
Operations:
(grins) I don’t trust any man where Nikita’s concerned. She has a
way of turning heads. Michael, Birkoff, Walter… Thank God there are no
other female operatives with that effect.
He
walks off. She grins -- acknowledging the insult but taking it lightly just the
same.
Scene Thirteen - Section One - Munitions
Walter
walks up. Nikita's sitting there, sunglasses on, looking unwell.
Walter:
How’s the headaches?
Nikita:
It’s not going away. I think it’s something to do with the house
explosion… gas or something.
Walter:
Maybe.
Nikita:
Who’s behind all of this?
Walter:
It could be anybody. Anybody at all.
Hey, Jace.
Nikita:
Find something?
Jason:
Sure did. Frankly, I was a little disappointed. Kind of hoping for
something a little juicier.
Nikita:
Well, what was it?
Jason:
Coordinates, country road south of Beauvais. It's decoded.
Nikita:
That’s it?
Jason:
Like I said, major letdown.
Walter:
Thanks.
Nikita:
Okay. Thanks.
Scene Fourteen - Adrian's "Rest Home"
Nikita
pulls up in her black Porsche and goes to the door. The guy who opens it is the guy in whose care Michael left Adrian
in season three.
Caretaker:
Bon jour. Can I help you?
Nikita:
Uh… bon jour. My… my name’s Nikita. Is this a retirement home?
Caretaker:
Convalescent. We care for the indigent and infirm. Is there someone
you would like to see?
Nikita:
Uh… yes… I’m not sure of the name. I was wondering if I could take a look
around…
Caretaker:
I’m sorry. That is not permitted.
He
slams the door in her face. She gets dizzy.
She then pushes her way in and grabs him.
Caretaker:
What-what are you doing?
Nikita:
I want to talk to you!
Caretaker:
If you don’t leave right now, I’ll call the police!
Nikita:
You won’t call the police. You’ll answer my questions. Vous
comprenez?
Caretaker:
Please! Don’t tell him anything! He’ll kill me!
Nikita:
Who’s he?
Caretaker:
A - A man came here a year ago.
Nikita:
How old? Old enough to be my father?
Caretaker:
Brother perhaps. He had a woman with him. His mother, I assumed.
Nikita:
When? Last year? August?
Caretaker:
August.
Nikita
dials her cell phone. She is sweating and dizzy.
Nikita: Walter,
are you there?
Walter:
I’m here. Any luck?
Nikita:
Can you download a visual of Michael, please? Immediately.
Cathy in: Wouldn't that be
'upload'? Just a thought!
Walter:
Right. It’s on the way.
She
shows it to the caretaker.
Nikita: Is
that the man?
Caretaker:
Yes. A quiet man, but dangerous.
Nikita:
What about the woman?
Caretaker:
Believe me, I gave her the best of everything, but there was nothing I could
do. I hide the body. Please don’t tell him.
Nikita:
How did she die?
Caretaker:
I don’t know. A mystery. She talked of headaches and flashes of
light. And then gone.
Scene Fifteen - Section One - Munitions
Walter
is working at his table. O'Brien approaches.
O'Brien:
Have you seen Nikita?
Walter: No, no…not lately.
O'Brien:
She’s supposed to be in Systems for a pre-mission.
Walter:
Yeah, well, I’m sorry, O.B., I can’t help you.
O'Brien
walks around him, leans down by him.
O'Brien:
Walter? Walter? I know she’s having problems.
Walter:
Well, that’s her business.
O'Brien:
Look. I covered for her once on the last mission. If I was gonna bust
her, I would have done it then. Now, I wanna help, but you have to trust
me.
Walter:
Have you heard of the Gelman process?
O'Brien:
Yeah, it’s some brainwashing type deal, right? I never knew it was real or-
Walter:
-Oh, it’s real. Wash, rinse, tumble-dry - it’s an ugly package.
They did it to her about a year ago.
O'Brien:
Why?
Walter:
To put a wedge in between her and Michael. What we’re seeing now is just
the aftershocks. It’s gonna get worse.
O'Brien:
How do you know?
Walter:
They did it to somebody else. A woman named Adrian. Now, the symptoms that she showed are just
like Nikita’s.
O'Brien:
Where is she now?
Walter:
Dead, so if we’re gonna do something, we’ve gotta do it fast.
O'Brien:
Like what?
Walter:
Adrian died in a retirement home. Nikita found out where she was buried,
and she’s waiting there now.
O'Brien:
Where she’s buried?
Walter:
The Gelman process used chemicals that developed into a neurological virus, so
what Nikita needs is a vaccine.
O'Brien:
And you know how to do that?
Walter:
I accessed Medical. I downloaded Adrian’s DNA sequence. All we need is a tissue sample.
Scene Sixteen - A Cemetary
Walter
and O'Brien drive up. One wonders how
he explained his absence from the pre-mission.
It's night and Nikita is sitting on the steps of the mausoleum.
Nikita:
What’s he doing here?
Walter:
He’s here to help.
They
all start to walk in. Nikita gets dizzy.
Walter: You don’t have to go in there if you don’t
want to.
Nikita: No,
no. I’m going. Adrian? Adrian?
Cathy in: This is useful
since dead bodies answer all the time. *rolling eyes*
Walter:
Here? How do you know? (Nikita can't
answer, and gets dizzy again)
Hey! Here. Sit over here. Come on!
Nikita
is making sounds like a cow in labor.
O'Brien:
Run the verification. Hey! Are you all right? Nikita! C’mon,
stay with me. Stay with me.
Walter:
(looking at the screen of his
palmpilot thingy) It's Adrian. (to O'Brien) Give me a hand with the
lid.
O'Brien:
What’s that?
Walter:
Huh?
O'Brien: What’s
that?
Walter:
Where? What have you got?
O'Brien:
I don’t know.
O'Brien
pulls out something that looks like a necklace.
Walter:
It’s a PF3 communicator! These things haven’t even been deployed yet.
O'Brien:
What the hell’s it doing in here?
Nikita:
It’s for me. It’s for me. The disk got me to Adrian. This is gonna
get me somewhere else.
Walter:
I’ll get a tissue sample.
O'Brien:
Listen, Nikita, you’re in over your head. Why don’t you let me take you back to
Section?
Nikita:
No!
O'Brien:
Look, even if Operations knocks you down a peg, you’ll still be alive.
Nikita:
This is not about Operations!
O'Brien:
Well, what’s it about?
Nikita:
I need to know who I am and why I’m here. I’d rather die, than not know.
They
all exit the mausoleum, Walter holding
O'Brien:
Walter, you know anything about Spec Ops?
Walter:
Worked there ten years, why?
O'Brien:
Well, if you had us staked out, where would you be?
Walter:
Hedge behind the fence, six o’clock.
O'Brien: That
sounds about right.
O'Brien
spins and shoots. He gets somebody. Walter dumps Nikita into the car.
Nikita:
That's it.
Walter
then joins O'Brien at the body.
O'Brien:
You know him?
Walter:
Goliak, Operations’ pit bull. How did you know somebody was around here?
O'Brien:
I know Operations well enough to know that he doesn’t trust anyone.
Walter:
Mmm.
O'Brien:
He’d have to have someone following me.
Scene Seventeen - Section One - MedLab
Nikita
lies there, wearing the PF3 communicator as a necklace.
O'Brien:
Is this gonna work?
Walter:
We’ll see in a minute. Can I ask you a question?
O'Brien:
Sure.
Walter:
What made you change your mind?
O'Brien:
She did.
Walter
gives her a shot.
Walter:
This is gonna make you feel better.
O'Brien:
How long is it gonna take?
Walter:
Well, this will work almost right away. We’ll have her back on her feet
again -- one or two days.
O'Brien:
She’s got a briefing in three hours.
Walter:
Good luck.
Nikita:
(in her sleep) Michael. Help me.
Scene Eighteen - Section One - War Room
Everybody
is gathered for the briefing. Nikita is nowhere to be found.
Operations:
We’re in Condition Six, consider recon hot unless advised to the contrary. The
bio-chemical plant is located in this cover facility is southern Kurgastad.
He
pulls it up on the holoscreen.
Quinn:
We have confirmation from in-house interrogation, as well as satellite
surveillance. The Collective acquired the facility last month. They
plan to start production within a week. The base is fifty feet below
ground and highly secured. It can only be taken from the inside.
Operations:
In four hours I don’t want this plant to exist. Go.
Operations:
O'Brien. In Nikita’s absence, you’ll assume field command. I’ll assign a
floater to take your spot.
Nikita
has appeared.
Nikita:
Not necessary. Jason sent me the mission parameters. I’m up to speed.
Operations: Where
were you?
Nikita:
My panel was misfiled. I’m sorry that I’m late.
Operations: Check
in with Walter.
She
goes, leaving O'Brien and Operations alone.
Operations: O'Brien.
You have anything to report?
O'Brien:
No.
Operations:
You’re sure?
O'Brien:
Positive.
(they
grin at each other. Uh-huh)
Operations: That's all.
O'Brien
leaves.
Operations:
Have you heard from Goliak?
Quinn: No. It’s
like he dropped off the face of the earth.
Operations
nods and walks off.
Scene Nineteen - Section One - Munitions
Walter
and Nikita are in Munitions.
Walter:
Here. You’re still in one piece.
O'Brien
arrives.
O'Brien:
So far. You shouldn’t be in here.
Nikita:
It’s just one mission. Get through this, we’re home free.
O'Brien:
Blackouts?
Nikita:
Getting better.
O'Brien:
Really?
Nikita:
Yeah.
Walter:
Hey. Sugar, I told you, these
transmitters are not operational yet!
Nikita:
Well, it wasn’t in the coffin for nothing. (She grabs her PF3 transmitter
back and puts it around her neck like a necklace)
Scene Twenty - The Mission - Chemical Plant
We
start off outside. Operatives are running around, shooting guards, etc.
Operative:
We’ve acquired second position.
Quinn:
Second position secured. Diversion team, continue to your next mark.
Operatives
run down a set of stairs. More shooting, of course.
Quinn: I’ve triggered the alarm. Hostiles
heading toward stairwell. Nikita,
scanning your level with infrared. Hostile on the catwalk.
Nikita
blasts him. She isn't having any problems, as of yet.
Quinn: Diversion team, three more hostiles
approaching stairwell.
Operatives
race up the stairs past a dead bad guy.
O'Brien:
You're clear to your next mark. Go!
Quinn:
Trigger, then proceed to egress. We’ve got hostiles. Security’s going
into lockdown.
O'Brien:
Override.
Quinn: I’m
trying. Nikita, you’ve got a three-minute window.
Nikita
starts having an attack. Everything
gets fuzzy, she groans and falls to her knees.
Operative: Diversion
team heading to next mark.
More
operatives racing up stairs.
Nikita:
O'Brien!
Quinn:
Nikita, did you set the charge?
A
bad guy gets shot, flies into something that electrocutes him. O'Brien is
trying to get to Nikita, shooting bad guys all the way.
Quinn: O’Brien, hold your position. Diversion team, egress. Hostiles still
in pursuit.
O'Brien
throws some kind of gas bomb, taking out a bunch of bad guys. Then the necklace around Nikita's neck
starts talking. No, I am not making this up.
Necklace:
Nikita. Nikita. Nikita, you have to be strong.
Nikita:
Michael? Who is that?
Necklace: A friend. Do as I say.
Quinn:
Nikita, what are you saying? Who are you talking to?
Necklace: Switch
to sub-channel four.
Quinn:
Nikita? Nikita? (to Operations) I’ve lost her.
Necklace:
You have to cycle through the sequence. The black button to the
right of the LED. Do you see it?
Nikita: Yeah.
Necklace:
The black button. Long, short, long. Now the red button. Press and
hold.
She
does this and a one-minute countdown appears.
Nikita:
Michael?
Necklace: Do
it. Do it!
Nikita
stands and puts the bomb on the wall where it belongs. Now she runs unsteadily down the hall, her
necklace bouncing.
Quinn:
She set the trigger sequence.
Necklace:
Nikita, three o’clock!
She
shoots a bad guy at three o'clock and gets to O'Brien, who helps her escape.
TAG - SECTION ONE - VAN ACCESS
They
return from the mission with one wounded operative.
Operations: The
mission had irregularities.
Nikita:
Equipment failure.
Operations:
(suspiciously) There’s been a lot of that lately, hasn’t there?
O'Brien:
Target was destroyed, we suffered no casualties. That should be enough.
Operations:
She destroyed Michael. She’ll destroy you, too.
Operations
walks off. O'Brien walks off too.
Nikita follows him.
Nikita: I
don’t really have the words…
O'Brien:
Thanks’ll do.
Nikita: Thanks.
She
looks down at and holds her communicator.
